The Winter From Hell

Well, according to Environment Canada, we received approximately 40 centimetres (16 inches) of snow overnight. What's with that?? Isn't it supposed to be just about Spring time? Aren't the birds supposed to be singing amongst the trees by now? Aren't we supposed to be buying Easter Lillie's real soon? But "oh no!" ... we can't just have a normal decent March break now can we! We 'gotta' get dumped on... for the 'umpteenth time this winter. We have had more snow in February and March combined than any other year since 12000 BC... I swear!

Late last night my son and I got the jump on shovelling. We could have started earlier but we couldn't find one of the snow shovels underneath the gargantuan layer of snow. I then went into the trunk of my car to get another shovel when the car alarm went of. It took me a good a good minute and a half of 11:30pm horn blaring to clear off the car to get into it to turn of the alarm. I was not impressed and neither was my neighbour who was peering out his upstairs bedroom window. I waved to him... He just turned around and went back to bed.

After an hour or so of shovelling, we called it quits and headed back in but not before we cleared a part of the deck at the back of the house for our low-bellied dachshund. Once in, I hot the hay and slept like a baby until 9:15am.

Damn! That was not 9:15! Yes sir folks! I forgot about... yep... you know it... Daylight Savings Time! Once more, an opportunity to be not impressed! So at 10:30am, I went outside, finished off the rest of the shovelling and then took a few photos.

So... Thus starts my day!

I'm sorry Dave.

I don't miss the snow one bit.

I would send you some warmth your way if I could.

Have an awesome day. You have so much of it you might as well go play in it. Do some sledding, make some snow angels, etc. And don't forget the snow ball fight with the kids.

Dave, Toronto and Montreal are digging themselves out of a wicked snowstorm. I swear it snowed all day yesterday and it was blizzard conditions around 9 pm. Not sure how many cms we got, Montreal got more that I know... tons of delayed or cancelled flights, don't go out unless you have to and so forth. It was -12 this morning. I'm lucky I don't have to shovel I certainly don't miss those days!

Happy March Break! Now you can play in the snow ;)

That's a lot of snow! Being a Texan, I find it quite charming. From here, I mean.

Yeeks; We've had what I'd call a couple of "good snows" this winter, but nothing like that. Are you allowed to just hoard food and hibernate, or does your employer frown on that?

It's gotta end soon! I'd take one of the storms if I could. Let me know when you see the first daffodil. It's going to happen sooner or later.

Gosh that's a heap of snow! Even though the sun is shining it still looks cold cold cold. You guys really got hammered this winter.
So I better not mention we are sunny and plus 9 and the trees are starting to bud...

There are times I really really hate being Canadian.

But when Spring DOES come, we'll appreciate it more than anyone else.

Phew - we're getting some form of tail end of it with the weird weather systems over here. It's not snowing, but the air is freezing and the tv footage of the storm is amazing. High wind speeds and flooding in parts of the South for the next twelve hours.

In passing - I could be wrong, but my initial impression of WPress is that its more literary and a bit less 'social' than blogger; some of its very similar, but there's definitely some very interesting stuff on it. I wasn't going to commit to another blog, but picked up it has reputation for being reliable, and there's quite a lot of links with blogger on peoples sites. It 'works' smoothly too, with a lot of choice on the preset templates.

I hate snow! Your neighbour was peeing out of the bedroom window? Really?

We have gales and torrential rain here, I'm hoping for a bit of spring weather at Easter. :)

Yes, how I ironic is it that all that snow your getting is a sign of global warning. It will eventually catapult us into the next ice age. I've taken three environmental classes that have explained it, but I like South Park's illustration the best.

I sure looks pretty, but I don't envy you.
Take Care,
P

I feel for you, but at least you're used to it, right? This is only my second winter in Maine, and I'm ready now for it to all go away. (Maybe by May, lol?)

That is way too much snow for March!!
I can see why you would be tired of it by now.
It is pretty but I'm glad to be where flowers are starting to bloom for spring.
I hope you gets lots of warm weather and sun and it goes away real soon.

better you than me! (sorry, but true!) i hope your neighbor recognized you because if you were a car thief, you'd have gotten away clean--well, once you shoveled out the car anyway.

we had a wicked wind storm last week, where power outages occurred and flights had to be cancelled, but that's mild in comparison.

Yeah, I hear ya as a fellow-Ontario resident but...isn't it grand to have the sun set at 7:20?

Hope you're having a good March Break!
