He Said She Said

Now I know that most of you don't follow Canadian politics and I don't blame you but then I have no doubt that, though you may know little about Canada, you can most certainly relate to what I am saying through your experiences of following the politics of your country. In my opinion, whether it be President George W. Bush, Prime Minister Gordon Brown or Prime Minister Stephen Harper, they all find themselves in hot water due to their lack of proper judgment at one time or another.

Recently in Canadian news, we have been inundated by hours and hours of television coverage, thousands of newspaper words and countless news reports regarding whether or not former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, after his days as the 18th Prime Minister of Canada in 1993, accepted $300,000 in kickbacks from German businessman Karlheinz Schreiber.

After much "official interrogation, Mulroney finally admitted that he did indeed receive $300,000 but not as kickbacks.

Now, I am not going to bore you with the minute details because really... who cares! I know I don't. Besides, knowing how politicians are known for their misjudgments and lies, why would we believe them anyways? Especially when they are trying to cover their butts! I think that, especially during the Christmas season, we should be concentrating on more "seasonal issues" and less on who said what with the politicians we elected to lead our countries.

Anyways... enough from the peanut gallery and a merry festive season to you all!

The news media does tend to go on and on about a certain subject until one just quits watching. As you said they probably lie about it anyway so who cares.
Are you snowed in yet Dave? :)

Today they had a picture of Mulroney in the Vancouver Sun, with the caption:

"I did not have cheques with that man".

I laughed.

I only pay attention to politics until it starts getting under my skin… then I back off a bit and take a break. The media definitely goes overboard covering certain topics, and it is frustrating knowing that they ignore some of the more important things going on.

Thanks for stopping by today!

They all lie. The most dangerous people seek power in every society because for the most part, those with integrity are busy doing other things.

Funny, Josie!

i think it seems that the media goes overboard because they know if they continue seeking the truth, they'll find it out. or find something; doesn't seem to matter much these days. our leaders should be held accountable for their actions though. maybe it would help if facts are proven before they hit the news, but then you know how people love gossip about others!

Some times I wonder if lying is required in order to be elected.

Seems the media will cover to death something of little importance so they don't have to do the hard work of covering what is important.

Hi Janice! Yes I am snowed in... Too much!! Beautiful though!

Hi Josie! Well, he is certainly going to be the butt of a lot of comedians! So sad...too bad! :-)

Hi Mike! You are right about that... I can only take so much and then I ignore it.

Hi heartinsanfransisco! You got that right... Lie! Lie! Lie! LOL
Those with integrity would probably never be elected.

Hi Heiresschild! News releases often never wait for the facts... Unfortunate!

Hi Pissed off Patricia! Cover it to death and still keep on going!

I think Karlheinz Schreiber is the cooles cat who walked down the pike.
Schreiber for Prime Minister!

We obviously can't find anybody worth his salt ($alst?) over here.

Interesting. Schreiber is wanted here for paying a lot of cash to a lot of politicians, some shady weapon-deals in very large scale, the 3 hundrets being merely a tip. He managed some accounts in Switzerland. Wonder whether he will ever be evicted and sent to Germoney, sorry Germany ...
