David Greenslade

Over the past few weeks, I have attended more than the average amount of funerals that I would normally attend. It seems that so often, things happen in threes. A couple of weeks ago, the father of a friend of mine died as the result of a heart attack. Last week, another father of a friend of mine died as the result of a lengthy illness.

The third one, which has hit me the most occurred this past Saturday, when a friend of mine was accidentally killed while out hiking alone along a California trail where he apparently fell off a cliff. I am not certain as to the details of this tragedy and so we can only assume that he either tripped and fell or quite possibly collapsed near its edge.

My friend’s name was David Greenslade. Except on a couple of occasions, I haven’t spoken to him for over twenty five years and yet, I still considered him a true friend. He was one of the few individuals I truly respected. He was a great influence in my life and knowing that he will no longer be here is a personal tragedy to me. He was an individual who was genuine in the way he lived, sincere in the way he interacted with others and dedicated in the way he lived his life for God.

He will be missed, not only by me, but by his family and hundreds of others who have had the privilege of being able to share time with him along the walk of life.

I would like to share my deepest sympathies to the Greenslade family.

I'm sorry for your loss. Amazing that people can touch us so much that even time apart from them doesn't diminish our feelings. Your friend sounds like a great guy.

A touching tribute to a good friend. When heart speaks to heart what else is there to say?

I'm sorry to hear about all your recent loses.

Here is Washington we have what we call "sneaker winds", high wind gusts that appear as if from nowhere. Every few years or so some poor soul will get blown off of Rattlesnake ridge because of one of these. They can top in excess of 50-80mph and leave as fast as they come.

Depending on the terrain, your friend could have been an unfortunate victim of one of these.

Take Care!

How sad for your friend and all who knew him. You'll always have your good memories of him. I always think of the people I knew who have died, and hope they know I'm thinking of them.

I share in the loss of our friend. This was a very touching tribute of Dave, I also knew him and was out of touch with him for about 10 years. I recently heard about his death and was shocked. What a tragedy. Dave was a caring, God-fearing man who will be missed by many people.

What sad news to read online, when I was doing a search for Dave's brother Tom. We knew the family well, having attended Central Baptist Church in Brantford, where a memorial was held this past Saturday. We live in New Brunswick now so without the computer, we might never know about this terrible accident. We look forward to Heaven to be reunited, and send our deepest heartfelt sympathies to the Greenslade family, too. Karen and Charles Peckham
