Health Update

Thanks to all of you who wished me well regarding my recent episode in the hospital. Since the other day in the hospital, I have had no more "heart flipping" in my chest. It appears that the meds are doing their job. The docs drew enough blood out of me in order to test my heart ten times over and they say that there is nothing wrong with my heart at all except for the wiring regulating the beats. There are a few things that occurred that day which makes me think that this was just a random occurrence that won't happen again and therefore I won't have to stay on the meds and so I am going to be planning on discussing this with my doctor next week.

The specialist at the hospital told me that this episode had nothing to do with genetics nor lifestyle but that this just "happens" for unknown reasons.

Again, thanks for all your prayers and shown concerns. I will keep you up to date.

Great news that it may just be something that happens, not a chronic condition. You must be relieved!

I'm so sorry to hear about this Dave and even sorrier that I am only just reading about it now. I have been very sick all weekend myself and have spent 95% of it in bed so am a bit behind on my blog reading.

I'm glad to hear that it is probably just a random occurence but it gets worrying as we get older when these things happen doesn't it? I'm the same age although ALMOST 48, and bits and pieces of the body are starting to wear out.

Take care and rest as much as you can. Maybe it was your bodies way of telling you to slow down. Listen to it.....

I'm late to the party, as always. I know how you must have been feeling. My husband had a cardioversion at the end of January, which was successful, but before that he had to take meds for over a year, to regulate his heartbeat etc. He's got one less pill to take now, but still has to take several others. My son has complained about chest pain for the last few days, and he's only 22! I hope it's NOT genetics with him. I'm really glad, that for you it's nothing serious!

Glad it sounds like something that can be managed. I think irregular heartbeats are generally benign, but I don't like it when I have them.

Sounds like a dramatic experience you had gone through. Wish all the best to your health.

The blood tests are more likely cardiac enzymes CK and troponin which are very sensitive to pick up cardiac muscle damage.

Nowadays young with people with atherosclerosis tend to be associated with hereditary. Lifestyle modification are to lessen or decrease the progression of diseases.

Hey Dave, I just found out about all this. Was it PVCs? (Premature ventricular contractions?) I suffered from those off and on since college and have been on regular medicine for it for ages and I won't be 47 until April. Don't be all manly and stop taking your medicine for the principle of the thing. I'm glad you are okay and also glad that you have a free day off on Monday. Rest and relax. And take your medicine!

I don't have access over the weekends, so I had no clue.

Good to hear you're getting better though.
